Pre-op Prep
POP (Pre-Surgical Optimization Program)
Preoperative clearance is a crucial step in preparing for surgery, ensuring that patients are in the best possible health before undergoing any procedure. This process typically involves a comprehensive evaluation of a patient’s medical history, current medications, vital signs, and any underlying conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, or respiratory issues. The goal is to identify and address any potential risks that could affect the outcome of the surgery or lead to complications during recovery. Preoperative clearance may include lab tests, imaging, and consultations with specialists to optimize the patient’s overall health. By thoroughly assessing and managing any existing health issues before surgery, preoperative clearance helps to minimize risks, promote faster recovery, and improve the overall success of the procedure.
You will be required to obtain a specific clearance note from the specialists you see documenting any recommendations if you suffer from coronary artery disease, history of coronary or vascular surgery, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia, have a pacemaker, sleep apnea, uncontrolled asthma, and diabetes.
